Why do we love this case?
The Lucky Dip Case is back! The first time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.
Every case contains the same eleven wicked wines, including some of our absolute faves here at the ‘fo. More info on them below, and they’re all good things. All mofo standard - i.e. nothing we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.
Then there’s the added excitement of seeing which one of these world-beater wines you will receive as your twelfth.
The twelfth wine is the wildcard and could be any one of these:
An iconic Penfolds Grange 2019 worth $1000 - (1 in 100 chance)
Hewitson Cask 66 Shiraz 2023 worth $450 - (1 in 10 chance)
Archery Road Longbow Shiraz 2021 worth $80, - (1 in 25 chance)
Pikes Settler's Cottage Shiraz 2021 worth $40 - (at a minimum!)
Each box contains one of these epic wines. The odds vary per wine, but each one is a centrepiece wine, worthy of some truly special occasions.
We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.
The easiest way to guarantee to get a bottle of Grange is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $1000 handy, this is definitely your best (and cheapest) option! Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes! Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on all those lovely wines:

1x Gapsted Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
King Valley — Australia
Here we go again with another delicious drop from one of the most consistently consistent producers we work with. Everything in balance and such a nice drink. Fruit in the blackberry and plum spectrum, underlying spice and earthiness, a bit of drying tannin. One of those ‘don’t overthink it’ kinda wines, straight up tasty, enjoyable and ready to roll. Good thing you’ll have another bottle of the same ready to go as you’ll want to come back for more.
You’d pay $31 full price.

2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Million Suns Grenache 2022
Red — Grenache
South Australia — Australia
Richly aromatic, plush and juicy, with layered and textural flavours of wild strawberry, red cherrie, raspberry and spice. A beautiful natural acidity runs right through the palate and creates a finish that's somehow refreshing and lengthy. There's a subtle savoury spice hanging around too, adding an extra layer of complexity. All in all, this is a seriously versatile wine that'll have you reaching for a second sip, or glass... or bottle, before you know it!
You’d pay $20 full price.

Margaret River is all about the world-class reds, and while people are always hyped about the cabs, we're here to remind you that you shouldn't be sleeping on their shiraz. This number from Altus Rise is a playful drop, brimming with red cherry, blackberry and that trademark Margs salinity. All we'll say is it's very hard to say no to another glass of this cracker.

The Wild Card Wines
Wild Card Wine #1
Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2019
South Australia
98+pts Andrew Caillard MW | 98+pts Colin Hay | 98pts Ken Garget | 98pts Tyson Stelzer | 98pts Jeni Port
"97/3% shiraz/cabernet sauvignon; matured in new American oak for 19 months. A quieter release for the 2019 rendition of Penfolds' world-famous icon. A little less of the formic and VA heft of youth in this showing and a bit more approachable as a result. Deep crimson in the glass with familiar characters of deep black berry fruits, plum compote and black cherry underscored with hints of baking spices, Calvados, espresso grounds, black olive tapenade, roasting meats, creamy oak, purple flowers and earth. Weighty and concentrated with classic Grange density of fruit and tannin; persistent, texturally flexing and long of finish. As per usual will cellar like a dream, but I think it will hit its drinking window a bit earlier than usual." - David Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

Wild Card Wine #2
Hewitson Cask 66 Shiraz 2023
Barossa Valley, SA
98pts Wine Orbit | 96pts Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot | 96pts Tony Love | 4.1 Vivino (All Vintages)
From one of our favourite Barossa producers, who have brought us multiple 98 and 99 pointed drops before, comes this incredible special release shiraz that will continue to improve for the next 20 years. Careful maturation in specially selected highest-grade French oak, followed by barrel selection of the finest juice, has helped craft this unparalleled expression of the country's top grape/region combination. Compellingly complex, the nose shows rich, ripe plums and bramble fruit with black cherries. Supporting is an excellent intermingling of charcuterie, black olives, cocoa and liquorice. The palate is simultaneously refined and powerful, with beautifully ripe tannins and a clean line of acidity supporting an incredibly long finish. This is premium Barossa at it's absolute best.

Archery Road Longbow Shiraz 2021
Barossa Valley, SA
96pts Wine Orbit | 95pts Wine Pilot | 95pts Wine Showcase Magazine | 4.2 Vivino (All Vintages) | Gold Medal Wine Showcase Magazine | Five Stars Wine Orbit
From the prized southern part of the sun-drenched Barossa, steeped in quality grown shiraz (you know we’ve done the research). It’s right here, where the surrounding views offer the picture-perfect painting; a diversity of colours from the tree leaves to the soils, which in turn give our favourite grape - shiraz. A blend of hand-selected low-yielding parcels, you’ll find generous flavours of black fruit, olive and pepper spice, backed by silky tannins, yet the wine is intense on the palate, with a great depth and length.

Wild Card Wine #4
Pikes Settler's Cottage Shiraz 2021
Clare Valley, SA
Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery
This is a seriously smart offering. Regional spice and minerality with a generously expressive bouquet of dark fruit, well integrated oak and soft, fine tannins to leave you hanging on every sip. For this price, you're laughing all the way to the barbecue.
If you were hanging out in South Australia in the 1880’s, you’d know Pikes for their beers. Fast forward 140 years and and several generations and the Pike family has firmly established themselves as one of the premier wine producers in the Clare Valley. Hops and grapevines, a rather abstract take on the tradition family tree. Their Settler’s Cottage shiraz speaks loudly of the Clare style; bracingly fresh, with aromas turned up to full volume and strikingly fine tannins. This is savoury, sumptuous, superb shiraz.
