Why do we love this case?
In the Barossa, Glen Eldon is synonymous with quality and innovation. With access to many micro-sites of soils and elevations, there's scope to really hone in on what it is each wine is trying to express specifically - in short, the producer can craft the exact type of wine that they want. We just got lucky that they want to make big, classically-styled Aussie shiraz!
2x Glen Eldon Twisted Trunk Reserve Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Hooley dooley. Old vine mastery. This has all the ethereal complexity that you can only really achieve when harvesting fruit from ancient vines. Gnarled and moody in the glass, as it's allowed to drink in a little air you'll see it evolve and open up to you. Something special to be sure.
"Reserve" is basically wine-code for "top shelf", if you're still confused, this wine will show you what we're on a bout. Enthralling suff. It’s always exciting to come across a wine with such presence in the glass. This has a powerful black fruit core that really ties the wine together, making it full and complete. The aromatic power of the wine walks the walk when it comes to the palate - glossy and full and rich. The fruit profile swarms the mouth; brambly, briary, bunchy. That freshness and focus of the fruit is followed by spice, coffee, and toffee nuance. This is immense in every sense of the word.

Tasting Notes
4x Glen Eldon Eight Barrels Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
This producer has a well-earned reputation for big reds, and this fits the bill for sure. Right out of the box this is an imposing, commanding wine that insist on a sense of occasion, then rises to it.
Richly fruited. Lashings of ripe black and blue fruits folded over vanilla, cake spice, cedar and mocha. The oak is present - persistent even - but it plays a marked second chair to the fruit, as it should me. Weighty, opulent, powerful shiraz. There is a lighter touch, too; dried petals and spices are beset against the dense fruit core giving the wine another dimension. Velvety tannins carry the wine through a lasting finish. This is seriously good gear - a fine example of what premium Barossa shiraz should look like.
You’d pay $90 full price.
