Why do we love this case?
The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
2x Auld Family 'The Ernie' Single Vineyard Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
The Barossa Valley is home to quite a few multi-generational wine families. There are legacies as far as the eye can see, stretching across the Barossa plains and rooted as deep as the oldest vineyards. The Aulds are one such family, with the current generation Sam and Jock paying tribute to their lineage who were planting Australian vineyards in the mid 1800's. They know quality when they see it, and they never fail to hit the mark. We guarantee, one sip of the Ernie shiraz and you won't be looking back.
You’d pay $65 full price.

2x Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.
You’d pay $40 full price.

2x Sieger Estate Frederick BLK 777 Old Vine Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
A bit of a staple for us here at Vinomofo. Death, taxes and someone bringing a bottle of this ripper to a dinner party. Although elegant, there's some serious grunt in the glass. Red meat lovers need not scroll any further, this is the one.
From certified old vines upon the fertile plains of Barossa’s rich valley floor comes a grape of great fame. It’s illustrious deep colour could mesmerise any punter, and it’s aromas are sure to enchant even those who try to abstain it. It’s the star of the show: shiraz. Taking no prisoners on its mission to be the biggest and the best- there’s chocolate interlaced with stewed plums and a hint of dried figs. A dance of redcurrant across the mid palate dares to drive freshness home for the long, slow burning finish. Both the beauty and the beast in the glass, you’ll be enchanted all the way through.
You’d pay $50 full price.

2x Haselgrove Cul Stor Shiraz Cabernets 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Multiple vintages of Haselgrove's Cul Stor shiraz blend have rushed into our warehouse and zoomed straight back out and to your front door faster than you can say ‘shiraz blended with cab sav and a splash of cab franc’. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from Mclaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.
You’d pay $45 full price.

2x Maverick Twins Barrel Select Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
If you close your eyes and picture a Barossa shiraz, odds are that this absolute ripper is sliding its way into your minds eye (or palate). Deep, ripe, dark and rich with impressive depth and fantastic concentration. A hug in glass.
Maverick Wines is a 5-star Halliday winery that takes a terroir driven approach to creating their product. In 2004, owner and winemaker, Ron Brown, acquired some of the best vineyards in the Barossa and set to work building a trusted brand with a focus on consistency of style and consistency of quality. Long story short, you know what you're going to get when you crack a bottle of Maverick, here's what we got from this beauty. A dense, highly concentrated wine with toasty French oak notes, warming spices and a silky smooth finish. Dark fruits run the show, as expected, and a velvety tannin structure and bright acidity hold this in good stead for, at very least, 10 years. This is just really really good Barossa shiraz.
You’d pay $50 full price.

Tasting Notes
2x Sequent Barossa Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Genuinely one of the best value wines that we stock. Big and bold, as you'd expect from any self respecting Barossan, but there's a prettiness and elegance to this wine that elevates it above its contemporaries. If you're after bang for your buck, look no further. A generous and inviting bouquet of violets, boysenberry and cherry crumble meet the nose and might have you thinking you've got a lighter style of shiraz on your hands. Well, that couldn't be further from the truth. On the palate it's a little darker, plum, anise and choc liquorice with prominent, but well-integrated, toasty vanillin oak. Sure this is a full bodied wine, but when we tried this one on the tasting bench the two words that kept coming up were 'smooth' and 'pretty'.
You’d pay $50 full price.
